Our client in Lucknow requires an Emergency Medical Officer for a hospital emergency department that receives medical, surgical, paediatric and trauma-related cases. This position is suitable for a doctor who can make safe initial decisions, stabilise patients promptly and coordinate care with consultants, nurses, technicians and patient families in a high-pressure environment.
Detailed Responsibilities
The Emergency Medical Officer will perform rapid clinical assessment, take focused histories, examine patients, prioritise cases according to urgency and initiate first-line treatment under hospital protocols. The doctor will order and review essential investigations, manage common emergencies within scope, support resuscitation activity, document clinical findings and coordinate admission, transfer, referral or discharge decisions with consultants. The role also includes communicating clearly with patient attendants, maintaining medico-legal documentation where applicable, ensuring handover quality during shift changes and supporting emergency preparedness within the department. The doctor must be able to recognise deterioration, seek senior input without delay and maintain composure when multiple urgent cases arrive together.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has strong clinical judgement, good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with nursing and support teams. They should understand that emergency care requires speed without carelessness, empathy without confusion and documentation that accurately reflects clinical decisions. Candidates with exposure to trauma care, ventilatory support, toxicology, cardiac emergencies or paediatric emergencies will be preferred.
Licensing / Registration Notes
Valid registration with the National Medical Commission or the Uttar Pradesh Medical Council is mandatory. BLS is required and ACLS or emergency medicine certification is preferred. Credential verification will include medical degree, registration certificate, identity documents and prior-employment records.
